Red Dragon
Red Dragon
Red Dragon is a exquisitely rare and exotic strain that is closely associated with the renowned Barney’s Farm seed bank. A hybrid cross between Afghan Kush, an indica Afghani landrace, and Utopia Haze, a sativa landrace strain native to Brazil. The cross of these two strains results in a flower with an impeccable aroma and flavour profile that is well-suited for true connoisseurs and terpene fanatics and a high that is as relentless and powerful as the name sounds!
This strain is a sativa-dominant strain, which is evident in the bubbly, giggly and euphoric high. Red Dragon was originally bred by crossing two landrace strains, one from the harsh environments of the Western Himalayan Mountain ranges, and the other from the tropical temperatures of Brazil. To survive throughout history, landrace strains have developed tenacious defense mechanisms to protect themselves from their unsuitable surroundings, resulting in special attributes such as a considerably higher-than-average THC concentration, and denser, meatier buds. Luckily, Red Dragon strain has inherited all these wonderful features from its parental strains! On average, Red Dragon is known to boast a staggering 24% THC concentration, which is exceedingly high for a sativa-dominant hybrid strain. Red Dragon is often associated with feelings of happiness and warmth due to its uplifting and upbeat high, and it is great when used to deal with depression and stress.
Named Red Dragon for its lovely reddish hue and amount of hairs, this strain is an almost unbelievable sight! These dense clusters of bud are an appealing shade of bright, almost neon green that contrasts beautifully with its fair amount of red hairs. Medium sized, cone shaped buds are blanketed by white THC crystals almost virtually everywhere. Asides from its physically appealing features, Red Dragon is also highly covered for its intense aroma that is characterized by a unique sweetness, reminiscent of guava fruit. Fruity undertones blend carefully with sharp, diesel-like main notes to create a deliciously sweet and gassy, fuel-like scent that is truly one-of-a-kind!
Smoking Weed
Once upon a time, cannabis consumption was considered a taboo act, and unacceptable in society. These days, the appeal of marijuana is stronger than ever, and the act of smoking marijuana itself is a very common occurrence – even Barack Obama once admitted to trying the ganja saying “I didn’t inhale it, and never tried it again.” Studies done on cannabis usage in America have shown that 64% of Americans are in support of the legalization of marijuana nationwide. Lucky for us Canadians, the Cannabis culture is widely accepted and even openly celebrated. Our relaxed attitude and values towards weed has embedded cannabis as a norm in Canadian society.
Indica vs Sativa
With thousands of years of history and such a wide abundance of strains available, it is important to know the differences between indica, sativa and even hybrid strains to find out what is most suitable for your own personal needs. Simply put, indica strains and sativa strains differ in their physiological effects and their appearance. Hybrid strains are the result of cross-breeding both an indica strain and a sativa strain together to create a new strain in itself. Because each cannabis strain is so complex and different from one another, it is hard to classify the three phenotypes or variants by their effects alone.

Hybrid Strains
In such a growing and experimental industry, science has made it possible for the creation of new strains to meet the unique demand of consumers. Hybrid strains are created when geneticists or growers cross-breed pure indica strains, sativa strains or other hybrid strains together to create a new plant, and they can lean towards either being indica dominant, sativa dominant or an equal 50/50 balance of its parentage. What is different about hybrid plants compared to indicas or sativas is that the range of effects are endless. Hybrid strains are very complex and can be bred to contain both sativa and indica characteristics, making them great for those looking for the best of both worlds, in a sense.
